Mimsey and the Moon Child (Balin’s World)

A prince who spent some time as a frog thanks to a spell cast by an angry ogress sets out to confront her. In the meantime, a girl who wanted to become a witch discovers after meeting one that she is destined to become much more than that. A blue dragon has identified her as a rare moon child. He and the witch aid her in developing unusual powers. She joins the prince and others as they hunt down the ogress and the pirate fleet she has used to raid villages along the inland sea.

The prince’s force grows to include the world’s oldest magician, a knight who is much less and much more than he appears to be, a one-eyed former soldier who can see the future (though not well), a man who makes things that have never been made before, a boy with a gift for solving technical problems, and a talking bird that, surprisingly, sometimes makes sense.

The ogress senses trouble is coming but she has no idea what form it will take. She believes her magical powers and her pirate crew are enough to defeat any foe. They always have in the past.
